High School

High School students in the state of Texas will have the opportunity to take STAAR EOC (End-of-Course Exams - English I, II, Algebra I, US History, Biology) as well as the PSAT, AP, SAT, and ACT exams. Below are some important links and descriptions to help you navigate and prepare your high schooler for these exams. The list below does not include teacher created exams and exams that are district created.



October 10 - PSAT Test
The PSAT is a national exam given to high school students all over the country. Students can use the results to win scholarships for college and more. The PSAT website has a wealth of information for families including free personalized PSAT test preparation, test descriptions, paper-practice tests, scholarship information, score report information, and much more. This year, BISD will be paying for all sophomores to take the PSAT test at their respective campuses.

December 3-7 - State STAAR EOC Exams

High School students who have not passed a past end-of course exam have the opportunity in December to re-take any exam that they still need to pass. STAAR EOC previously released practice tests are available at the TEA website. Free tutoring is available online through resources such as the Khan Academy and the district's Edgenuity program.

April 9 & 11- State STAAR EOC Exams - English I & II
The English I and English II EOC exams are given on April 10th and 12th, 2018. STAAR EOC English I & II resources are available at the TEA ELA webpage. STAAR EOC previously released practice tests are available at the TEA website. Free tutoring is available online through resources such as the Khan Academy and the district's Edgenuity program.

May 6-10- State STAAR EOC Exams
The May administration is a time for high school students who have completed appropriate coursework to take the remaining three EOC exams for exit requirements (Algebra I, US History, Biology). Like with the December administration,  STAAR EOC previously released practice tests are available at the TEA website. Free tutoring is available online through resources such as the Khan Academy and the district's Edgenuity program.

May 1 - AP Testing Window Opens
BISD offers high school students the opportunity to complete AP (Advanced Placement) exams that can be used as part of the college application process. The College Board has many excellent parent resources for the AP exam including the Resources for Parents and Families page that contains a great deal of helpful information about the exams.

SAT Resources
Many students in BISD sign up to take the SAT exam. There are many resources offered by the college board to help assist students and parents with the exam. Check out the SAT Practice Resources Page.  SAT results can be linked to a student account and used by Khan Academy to provide personalized tutoring in preparation for additional SAT testing attempts as needed.
