Assistant Principal - Dean of Instruction
My name is Melanie Pierson, Dean of Instruction at Clute Intermediate School. In my new role as Dean of Instruction, I am responsible for curriculum, instruction, and intervention. This is my seventh year at CIS, and before becoming an administrator I taught 6th and 7th grade Language Arts. I am a Brazoswood High School graduate, and have earned both my Bachelors and Masters degrees from the University of Texas at Arlington. Outside of school I enjoy spending time with my family (Husband: Blake, Daughter: Olivia, and Son: Connor), doing anything outside, traveling, baking, and being crafty. My hope for ALL students is that they develop a love of LIFE long learning, and that they truly understand and believe that their futures are limitless.

Then, I transferred to Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX. There were various clubs that I had affiliated with, including: The Block & Bridle Club, Ag Ambassadors, Collegiate FFA and SHSU Ducks Unlimited. I graduated in December of 2005 with a B.S. In 2007, I began employment as an Agricultural Sciences Teacher/FFA Advisor with Spring H.S. (Spring, TX) and remained there for 3 years. My next agricultural teaching position was with Glenda Dawson H.S. (Pearland, TX) for 2 years. Lastly, I taught agriculture at Clear Springs H.S. (League City, TX) for 2 years. My first year as an Assistant Principal began here at Clute Intermediate School. I love the students, teachers and community here at CIS. Assistant Principal - Special Services
Greetings! I am Kanestra Bland, Assistant Principal - Special Services, at Clute Intermediate School! I am eagerly anticipating an awesome school year full of learning, growth, experiences, and opportunities.
After graduating from the University of Houston in 2004, I began my career in education right here in Brazosport ISD. I taught Language Arts at Freeport Intermediate School for 8 years. During this time I had the opportunity to coach volleyball, basketball, and sponsor school clubs and activities. At FIS, I grew as an educator, developed a love and appreciation for community, learned the meaning and importance of being on an effective team, and was able to impact the lives of many of my students. I earned my Masters in Educational Leadership from Lamar University in 2009, and then became an Assistant Principal in the 2012-2013 school year. Prior to coming to Clute Intermediate, I have served as the Assistant Principal for Lake Jackson Intermediate School and Lanier Middle School. The 2015-2016 school year will mark my 12th year in education, and my 4th year as an administrator.
I am committed to excellence, being a life-long learner, creating a safe and orderly school environment, increasing the rigor and relevance of instruction, student-centered instruction, and keeping the best interest of the students as the #1 focus. I look forward to being a part of a team committed to making great things happen for our students.
