Cougar Football News-CIS vs. LJI 10/18/16

8th Grade Football:

The 8th Grade Blue Team hosted the Lake Jackson Intermediate Panthers on Tuesday night in a back and forth contest. The Cougars came out on top 36 to 30, but the Panthers made them earn it. Both teams gave great effort throughout the entire game. There were big plays made by both sidelines that pushed the game to the last second. 
Offensive players of the game were Charles Toy who threw the game winning touchdown with 30 seconds left on the game clock and had a few explosive runs from scrimmage for a touchdown; Exodus Dearman who had some explosive plays running the ball and a touchdown; DJ Perry who had some great kickoff returns and some electrifying runs for a touchdown; Herman Zavala who had some tough runs from scrimmage; and Jeremiah Guevara who caught a 35 yard touchdown pass on 4th down to put the Cougars up by 6. 
The defense played lights out and caused 3 fumbles and had 3 interceptions. The defensive players of the game were Justin Pineda, Kaleb Manning, Marco Frias, Kaleb Smith, Michael Gonzalez, Yahel Garcia, DJ Perry, Jeremiah Guevara, Herman Zavala, Fernando San Miguel, Charles Toy, and Exodus Dearman. The 8th grade will be on the road next Tuesday to take on the Lamar Mustangs. Come on out and support your Cougars.

Playing hard from start to finish 8th Grade White drops their game with LJI by a score of 42-0.

Offensive stand outs: Pedro Rios (5 pass completions) Dherya Patel (4 catches), Kyle Miller (1 catch) Ubaldo Narvaez, Angel Martinez, Leo Salinas, Aiden Sullivan and Damian Hernandez.
Defensive stand outs: Noah Harrold (1 sac) Johnny Hernandez and Jacob Reyna

Other standouts: Damion Estrada, Perla Ponce and Brandon Joice.

Clute will travel to Lamar next week.

7th Grade FB Game Report:

The Clute Cougars put up a tough fight versus Lake Jackson Intermediate. Unfortunately, coming up short in the end. Raynard Dearman threw for 2 touchdowns, one caught by Romero Rios and the other by Carlos Cantu. Stand out players on defense were Sean Gonzalez who came up with an interception late in the first half. The other being Michael Martinez who was all over the field on defense making tackles for stops. The Cougars will be at home next Tuesday versus Lamar where they will look to bounce back.
